MKEK is the main manufacturer of Turkish arms but there are lots of cooperatives all making guns.

The wife's Yavuz 16 is a Beretta 92 by any other name..Sarsilmaz ST10 looks and feels like an H&K USP.

Mine would only fire the 70mm cartridges...... 65mm would produce the same issue as you describe

The problem with the 65mm carts is well known, the Mk1 (2007) and Mk3 Escorts I have don't like Hull Comp-X (which are one of the shortest 65mm carts), with 2 in the mag they will try to feed both at once and jam (not double fire). Eley First 65mm are about 1.5m longer than the Comp-X and will work OK.

However, it's not a fault, Hatsan clearly state that the Escort is designed to work with cartridges that are 70mm and above, use anything shorter and you get problems.

Even the shorter cartridges should make the gun go full auto surely ??

If its got the three inch chamber if you use certain types of 65mm cartridges you can get three in the magazine as well...

If ever the old adage "you get what you pay for" is true, then it is true with Hatsan. My Father bought 3 in quick succession (different bores) to see what they were like.... quality was rubbish, never again ...and he is a man who has owned a LOT of shotguns (literally hundreds).

No, it shouldn't go Auto, that's a different issue entirely!.

As for quality, I can only speak as I find, I have 3, a Mk1 semi from 2007 which has probably had around 20,000 cartridges through it and still works perfectly, for the vast sum of £285 new I certainly can't complain about it :)

A Mk3 semi which was bought as a spare for when the Mk1 died (because everyone told me it would), it's only had about 50 cartridges through it and sits in the safe unused.

I also have a Silver Select O/U, had a problem with the selector mech, worn bit of metal, Edgars sent me a slightly less worn bit for free as they had no new ones!.

Can't fault the reliability never had any issues. As for quality, it's a cheap hunting gun, not an ornament....Turks don't get all romantic the way you lot do over (shot)guns.. and I am NOT biased..they're as reliable as a Massey Ferguson (assuming they are rliable of course).

Had an S1 semi and S2 pump in UK..they ate any kind of shell except these crappy D&G things..which just fell apart...

Got an S5 pump over here with ghost ring sights...had it what, about 14 years now, maybe more...never missed a beat. Fire mainly slug and 00 buck - occasionally 32g no5....... and it doesn't get cotton wool treatment.

As a cheap "hunting" gun I guess the Hatsans are ok. I don't hunt and I am typically careful with all my guns. If the weather is rough I can use my (sec 2) Mossberg Mariner or either of my (sec 1) Benelli's at the clay ground (M1 super 90 + M2 Practical). I only use my expensive Brownings when the weather is good.

Its like watches... I have worn a Sinn U2 for 9 years, it was expensive and I could have bought over 60 cheap Timex watches for the several thousand that the Sinn cost, but I enjoy the quality of this German timepiece and it has truly become "My Watch" having been through so much with me.

Each to their own I guess.
