The NSRA shop had them in stock so I duly went through the process of shoving them into my online basket then proceeding to the checkout.
I'd put my details in as normal then noticed the following statement at the bottom of the page (which appeared to be a mandatory requirement if I wanted to continue with the transaction).
* BY CONTINUING, I AGREE THAT MY INFORMATION WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE UNITED STATES*
Now .... a simple question! WTF is
THAT all about?
Since
WHEN did the UK NSRA become an information collecting agency for the US Government?
I'm not so daft to think that in this post-Snowden era, the Feds don't already have more than enough information about me as it is but for the UK NSRA to be doing this so blatently is for me ..... a damn cheek and totally out of order!
Needless to say, I'll be buying my patches elsewhere.

The handling of on-line payments via debit or credit cards will be through a third party, usually the card provider not the merchant. Visa and Mastercard are American owned, your bank issues debit/credit cards on their behalf. Maybe if you are so worried about Americsn companies owning your data stop using your cards and using the internet.
I indicated that I was annoyed ..... not worried. It's the first time I've seen information being so blatently collected. I guess it's 'fine' as long as no one else is bothered by it .............

They've probably always shipped data through the US - many do - until last year there was a presumption that it was safe to do so under the "Safe Harbour" laws. We pulled out of that due to the Yanks not running a fair show, so that may be why they warn you now.

Not quite right there..there IS an obligation to ensure that the recipient has similar levels of security and the sender should have verified this in some way...I wonder what the Data Protection people would make of this and if the seller is DP registered in the first place! You cannot just "ship data" tpo third parties willy nilly!
might be worths ending them a wee email - or lodging a complaint!
