I did experiment with N140 and TR140/RS50 and Varget gave me the best results (26" Border barrel on an AI) for me is is a perfect load and I am justa bout to start testing with 129 grain Hornady Interlocks and again Varget will be my starting point.

Just looked back at my reloading notes, I did see higher MV's with other powders however my most accurate load was with Varget, disappointingly the most accurate load gave me a couple of pierced primers over 50 odd shots so I would back by 0.1 grains and no further primer issues and accuracy was there or thereabouts the same when tested at 100/600/1000 yards. Also it was Varget that gave the best results at 1200 yards.

If nothing else it did add fuel to my theory that fastest is not necessarily bestest

I shoot the 6,5X47 with 123 Scenars which are run through a pointing die and I use Varget exclusively with them and CCI magnum primers. It gets the job done rather well

Tell me more about this pointing die. What is its purpose? What effect does it have down range? Is it literally a die to ensure all open tip bullets have the same tip?

It is a die that has a sleeve and insert designed to uniformly close the meplat's down on bullets. This should offer an improvement to the BC and downrange performance and my findings at 1000 yards are a vertical gain of around 0,25mils/0.8MOA and a a slight improvement on horizontal so in theory it shoots slightly flatter and gives small wind gains. What I have also noticed is I see less 'flyers' and generally better groups at distance.

Been doing a lot of reading up and quizzing other shooters at my club and Varget is what they're all using on their F-Class 6.5x47 set ups. With 123g Scenars aswell
