Alpha, I had not considered M3 as I had assumed at 0,5mm pitch it would be around 51TPI - It is easily checked though.

Metric? Arghhhh.....
Closest proper thread i.e. IMPERIAL is going to be 1/8 BSF which is 48TPI although obviously undersized at 0.125".

Actually it looks very close to M3.5, which is the thread used by anschutz to fix the fore sight blocks on to their barrels. 3.5 m.m. is 0.1378" and the pitch is pretty close. M3.5 is used in electrical installations such as holding the electrical socket faces to their backing box. So just unscrew one and try it for fit. If it is that size screws are available from Maplin, Farnell / CPC and RS. Though it might be cheaper to buy a socket just for the screws.
Failing that a model engineer's supplier should be able to help.
