You don't have to have any lathe experience to know how wrong this is... For starters the cut is not going to be concentric despite the centre guide going into the bore. Unless you get a tight fit going into the lands there will just be too much wobble. Then there's the fact that there's little to no coolant. My face when I saw the video:

It's not my rifle,
It's not my gunsmith,
Therefore not my problem.

That bore centering pilot must surely be screwing up the rifling for a good inch or so.

With a Mosin barrel that short accuracy wouldn't be a priority but ideal if you wanted to put a big hole in something from 6ft away and set fire to it at the same time!.Dark Skies wrote:That bore centering pilot must surely be screwing up the rifling for a good inch or so.

True but I had the impression these people were advocating this method and tool for as yet un-butchered rifles. Needless to say I shall not be applying a hole saw to either of my Mosins' barrels any time soon. :)snayperskaya wrote:With a Mosin barrel that short accuracy wouldn't be a priority but ideal if you wanted to put a big hole in something from 6ft away and set fire to it at the same time!.Dark Skies wrote:That bore centering pilot must surely be screwing up the rifling for a good inch or so.
