Makes you wonder doesn't it.
Also, the photos on the Mirrors website. Presumably they were taken in Suffolk's secure storage facility / strongroom, so how does a tabloid hack get access and get given a Bren (with mag attached) to have his cheesy photo taken with it?
Did I read that someone had asked for a FOI request as to what was viable and what was a de-act, only to have the request turned down as the police didnt have that information!
Something seems a bit smelly.

Heard this from a local RFD that it took Suffolk police 2 days to set it all out, news paper reporters and news crews such as SKY & BBC were invited to attend the press release to see all these firearms laid out, so must have been loads of unlicensed people looking at the stuff if they were live.

I seem to remember a similar story about 2 years ago, where there was video of the police loading what looked like a load of AR-15's/M-16's into the back of a van and the story being they'd found a "massive weapons haul", then about 3 months later it turned out they were almost exclusively airsoft guns. 8-)

Whatever happened to the journalist 'Gaz' that used to be a member on here??

Looks very much like a police range to me (hence my previous comment) - baffles, distance markings etc.

The actual story though is that the RFD was convicted of selling a single section 5 weapon to the guy who died plus he was deactivating weapons himself and not getting them inspected by the proof house. He was also done for converting semi automatic rifles into single shot rifles. Oh and he also got done for have a Victorian walking stick gun!

Its not really clear about the status of all the things shown in the photos as the guy died before he could appear in court.

When I visited the RFD he took me to his workshop to pick up a rifle I had bought, I did not see any deactivated guns only live rifles. On 2 further visits did not see any deacts only live some in bits some complete. Mainly L1A1,s Fal's and a SVT40 and 1 SKS all UK spec Sec1 straight pulls.
