If the barrel length was greater than 30cm & the entire gun greater than 60 so in effect an action + barrel on a stock with a single pistol grip at the balance point & the trigger connected by rods (bull pup pistol?) - that would be legal & for clubs too? like the pic:

.357 magnum is one thing, what the LRP shooters chamber with is a very different manner with 220 grain 30 cal bullets not out of the norm. I shudder to think what the recoil is like however they seem to cope OK.

They are s1 Firearms and are available on FAC for target shooting. But they are not one of the categories of firearms that are approved to be used as a "club gun" or by a club member other than the person whose FAC it is on.

Yes. Generally S&W model 13s and 19s. The RUC were routinely armed with Ruger Speed Sixes. In the 90s during the transition to semi the government wasn't so namby pamby and would allow the revolvers to be sold to civilians. I've just had a look at an October 1996 Gunmart that I still have, (some will remember the significance if the date) and York guns list model 19s at £165 and model 13s at £119. Holsters were a fiver and they came with 2 free speed loaders....

My eldest brother carried a S&W Model 10 whilst with the Met in the 1970's, mostly on the underground during the period of IRA activity on the mainland.

A lot of those model 10s became the base gun for Police Pistol "Race Revolvers"! Carried a lot, shot seldom....

A 3 or 4 inch model 10 was an outstanding tool. I'd swap you a whole pistol cabinet full of muzzle loading revolvers for one right now!
