This is setting us up for a fall, whilst I appreciate there are UK shooters who would like concealed carry self defence there is pretty much zero chance of that ever being allowed in the current political climate.

There is little public support for the idea and we already struggle in a PR sense. Going on national TV and having a no doubt biased program editor cherry pick what you say is hardly helpful for the sport. The request is a leading one and it is a worry.

Benjamin should nip over to Ulster.
LOTS of FAC's issued there for concealed carry self defence....even to, allegedly ex-IRA, political establishment prominent figures

Oxymoron, he did it again, me looking words up to make sure he's not having a go.....
On a less light hearted level, this can only be bad, that lad does not look like the sort who will ride his winged stallion " integrity" against the prevailing media blood lust. The request to speak to people who would like to talk about self defence should be beating a large loud drum in everyones ears ! Murgnahan did a sh#te bit on guns just after Dunblane, typical stuff.
we're Doomed I tell ye

Perhaps the idea that theres no such thing as bad publicity could be applied here?

I appreciate that as a community we have often suffered at the hands of unscrupulous editors bent on shoving their idea (or their paymasters ideas) of a utopian gun free society down the publics throat but in my opinion we have played right into their hands by shying away from mainstream media coverage.

Generally the only time there is any coverage about shooting on TV is when a criminal does something horrific and perhaps the four yearly cycle of gong hunting by the clay bashers and air brigade.

Any mainstream media platform that provides the masses with information about what shooting & gun ownership is already available legally in the UK can only be a good thing.

Our survival depends on peoples participation and that requires the shooting & gun ownership community getting out there and spreading the word!

Absolutely and if this could happen it would be wonderful, however experience has shown us that there is nowhere in the mainstream media any positive support for for legal gun ownership and shooting let alone a will to celebrate and promote it. That is why any programme on shooting will be looked at with worry and why shooters are wary about engaging because their words have been twisted and they have been misrepresented far too often by scumbag journalists.

I do hope that this programme will prove me wrong and if it does it will be the first of many.

I wait and see with little hope.

They will never give a balanced or positive spin when asking people to specifically champion self defence carry.

They want shooters to look like mentalists. Those willing to go and bang on about the right to concealed carry will only be used to make us all look unhinged and dangerous.
