I wish we had a truly representative National body that all shooters would want to come behind, which would support and promote the interests of shooters and shooting at the highest level free from vested interest, petty fifedoms and historical dogma.

Can't argue with that dromia...but I suppose owning the Ben Avery range complex in Arizona is more likely to happen.

True

It was a "wish" list Chuck.

Nowt wrong with a bit of fantasy now and then though is there. ;)

Still there are people who have the power and resources to make this wish come true, its just that they are small people having neither the vision or generousity of spirit to make it so. The mind set is "shooters are there for them not that they are here for shooters".

What’s the big obstacle? There's a vacuum for a discipline-independent national political lobby body for shooting & gun ownership (something like Gun Owners of America), so it just takes someone suitably minded, motivated, experienced and located to start one. Persuade all the discipline national bodies to subcontract their lobbying activities to this new organisation and apply a small levy to their own membership subs, and offer direct membership for around a tenner. Encourage everyone who shoots anything to join and get enough members to make MP's listen. Simples. Are there any out of work politicians or lobbyists knocking around? Surely Nigel Farage must be available at the moment?

True dromia, nowt wrong with a bit of fantasy....can you tell that to the missus

Rox: good point, as I have said befiore, we need to buy a politician or two and professional lobbyists - the same as every other group does.
