Re: Gun Trade Assc latest news.....
I know that with everything up in the air at the moment over the proposed restrictions some people are put off buying "military style" rifles such as AKs and ARs etc so I was surprised when I saw that line on the Rusmilitary website......if it hasn't come from an official source then it could be seen as very misleading.

The thing is, even if it did come from the GTA, it would only be their opinion on the basis of the current EC proposals - similar to what I wrote in my previous post.snayperskaya wrote:I saw that line on the Rusmilitary website......if it hasn't come from an official source then it could be seen as very misleading.
The proposals aren't fixed in stone at this stage. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're being revised off the back of the feedback received during the 07/12/15 EU parliament’s Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection discussions.
There's no indications however that they're being revised and expanded to include anything not currently classified as semi-automatic ie: UK spec. straight-pulls. That type of firearm would appear to be completely outside of the EC's proposals at this stage.
Re: Gun Trade Assc latest news.....
The hole thing is vague and open to interpretation so i would not rule anything in or out. i would think military style / type would cover stright pull A/Ks etc.
Re: Gun Trade Assc latest news.....
I agree that overall the document is vague. It is however explicit in that it is seeking to move semi-automatic firearms currently classified under group B7 to A (prohibited). UK spec. straight-pulls have never been classified as B7, and are therefore outside of the proposal's remit - at least as currently written.ordnance wrote:The hole thing is vague and open to interpretation so i would not rule anything in or out.
There's no use in supposition when the (admittedly egregious) proposals are literally in black and white.
The proposals we're discussing read in their entirety as:
(13) in Annex I to Directive 91/477/EC part II is amended as follows:
(a) point A is amended as follows:
(i) in Category A, the following points are added:
‘6. Automatic firearms which have been converted into semiautomatic
firearms;
7. Semi-automatic firearms for civilian use which resemble weapons
with automatic mechanisms

I don't care if the ban wouldn't effect the UK in the slightest. This is still nonsense that needs to be opposed.

Re: Gun Trade Assc latest news.....
Frankly I see this as all very unhelpful! Whilst we should be vigilant towards any more potential gun bans starting to panic over as of yet unstated bans on more types of guns in this case military style straight pulls do not help our case.
The antis, NABIS and continuity ACPO do look at websites like this and it doesn't help our cause one iota giving them any ideas! If we start going:
"There going to take our millitary style straight pulls" how long before they start lobbying for that to happen?!
Cool heads are needed, our cause is not lost yet and it looks like there is fairly strong push back on the semi-auto ban that there is a good chance it will get hung up in the EU when it comes to debate and voting on the matter, lets not help the antis by going into panic about stuff they haven't even mentioned yet!!!

But if we don't discuss issues like this regarding our firearms, in this case straight pulls, it could appear we don't care what happens. If we keep silent and stay in the shadows so to speak we won't do ourselves or our sport any favours.
My original post wasn't about going into a panic, it was a question regarding something I read on a retailers website.By your reckoning of not giving the anti's any ideas we shouldn't post pictures of our firearms, discuss our firearms or post lists of the firearms we possess in our signatures (not that I do anyway), shouldn't frequent firearms related forums and only leave the house to go to ranges at 2am in the morning in case anyone sees us!!!........all of which is ridiculous of course.

Ignoring it won't make the problem go away...it will just make your guns go away.
Whatever you are worried aboutn theyb have already thought of it and the answer should be NIO, bwecause as I have said before,NOT ONE OF YOU is guilty of these attacks! Collective punishment of the innocent is against ECHR law I would imagine - no matter what excuse they use to dress it up!
This is a problem of the EU's making not of anyone on here.

When I said websites I meant Rusmilitary albeit they do look here as well. My Umbrage was directed at Rusmilitary unnecessarily stoking panic.
