Well they're both .429 calibre, so just a bit of work with a chamber reamer and a modified bolt...jmc67 wrote:Hmm, actually another thought - lever action instead of bolt action. I wonder if one of the stainless Marlins could be modified to 44 Automag?
But would you really gain anything over using "normal" .44 magnums..??

I'm thinking you may have trouble getting a rimless cartridge to extract from a lever action.jmc67 wrote:Hmm, actually another thought - lever action instead of bolt action. I wonder if one of the stainless Marlins could be modified to 44 Automag?

With me its not really about 'gaining something'. Fancy something a bit different rather than off the shelf I suppose. I like quirky engineering (on Sunday I'll be shooting 1895SBL 45-70 and 45acp bolt action Armalon carbine at the NRA club day for example). And I'm quite happy to reload for it.
I hadnt realised it was in that too - I only remember it from Sudden Impact. Will have to watch Beverely Hills Cop 2 over the weekend then....

If you want something different to give you a hand loading challenge, then obsolete calibres are the things to go for: the obvious one in lever action is 32-40 . I shoot ,43 Mauser, 310 Cadet, 32-40 Remington Hepburn, 300 Sherwood and a few others.
