Yes it has the `S` stamp for the .323 spitzer cartridge and the rear sight has been altered to 400-2000m to accommodate the flatter trajectory of this round.
The stock disc has no markings on it and the lower detachable sling swivel, carries the period correct manufactures mark of `Simson`.

Superb rifle,
they are lovely rifles to shoot, I spent a great day on the range with a Boer War issued and marked M96, a mint WW1 G98 and a similar condition 1937 dated K98 back in May, they are all on my wants list!

Wow, great looking rifle you got there! I got to shoot a Gewehr 88 a week ago, definitely like the old stuff.

Very nice, good quality Great War dated G98 rifles are quite hard to find these days. In my Cabinet my 1915 Amberg G98 sits next to my 1916 LSA SMLE, two old soldiers now united for peaceful use.
Determining if your rifle was ever issued a good clue is to look for abrasions on the woodwork on the rifle's left hand side just above the wrist. These would be caused by the wood rubbing against the ammunition pouch of the bloke issued the rifle as he marched along.

Mine is a 1915 DWM
Took it to show Dromia - his is also a 1915 DWM - the serial number of which was within 20 units or so of mine!!
Mine loves PRIVI ammo - though I don't - so will be doing some loading for it in due course
The sights being at 400m are a pain though - but just a case of getting used to them....

It would help if you attached the sights to your rifle, no good being 400m away
