Normal procedure is to do one eye then wait six month and if everything is Ok they do the other eye.
In my case I had a cataract on the left eye that restricted my sight quite badly. The right eye was doing all the work all though I did not realize at the time. I then developed a cataract in the right eye which did nor help. To make matters worse the retina in my right eye detached if the retina fully detaches then you loose the sight in the eye. They did all three procedures together. That is not the norm but to fix a detached retina they drain the liquid from inside the eye then inject a mixture of liquid and gas they then seal the eye so it's under pressure. The pressure forces the retina back in place and if everything works Ok the retina re attaches. While this process is going on you can not see out of the eye. The cataract in the left eye was so bad that I would not of been able to see at all while the right eye was recovering and as they were working on the right eye any way they decided to remove the cataract from that eye as well. So I had the three procedures all done at the same time. The left eye is fine but because of the detached retina thing my right eye is OK but not good enough for iron sight work any more.

Wow, you have my sympathy after all that.

My symptoms are confined to my right eye and are not too bad at the moment, although because I had a vitreous detachment 8 years ago it's hard to detect small changes.

I'm still posting good scores at 1,000 yards with a scope but noticing an increasing loss of clarity so I would like to get it sorted soon.

My optician gave me a full MoT yesterday. Although the cataract is clearly visible on the retinal photograph she said the NHS wouldn't operate because my vision in that eye is still very good. She thought a private consultant might be reluctant too. My scope picture is definitely losing contrast so I will need to have a think about how to proceed.

Its good news that you don't have to go under the knife. Not sure what the answer to your scope problem is though.

Just had my left eye done. Nervous however turned out to be a walk in the park.
