It's good value for money for the average shooter who wants to check for dirt and rust. You can connect the video to a monitor to get a bigger picture.
Can it do 90 degree angles and look directly at the bore? Can it focus that close?

It will cycle trhough four "sideways" views, not sure if they are 90 degrees or something less, and yes it will focus that close.

I'll see if I can capture a video and let you see it.

Yeah, that'd be good, thanks.

I ordered an ebay jobby, but judging by some comments and the review that someone else posted, it might not be any good for looking into the rifling, so much as looking at the rifling. So an alternative lined up might be good if I can't do anything with it...

I failed to grab a video. It's the first time I've tried to connect it to an external device and my DVR says the signal is not compatible. Odd because it's a German product and the spec says the output is PAL/NTSC.

The image can be rotated through 180 degrees and mirrored horizontally and vertically, so it won't do the 90 degrees you're looking for but you still get a good view of the rifling.

By 90 degrees, I mean look directly at the rifling, not rotate the image on the screen.

Can an angled mirror be added to look sideways out of the bore scope to look directly into the rifling, not down the inside of the barrel. Does this make sense?

Yes, I understand what you mean but I don't know how you would achieve it.

The lens on this thing gives a good wide angle view and as you pass it through the bore you can see the rifling well enough.

I'll see if I can take a photo of the screen, it will be much clearer than me trying to describe it!

My cheapo 5.99 jobby works but the focus is fixed at about 2-3 inches.
It also gives a blue tinge to everything which I think is the led lighting.
Currently all my rifle bores look bad, but I'm pretty sure they arent.
I'm going to remove the protective glass front and see if that makes a difference.

I bought a 5mm and a 9mm one but didnt get a sideways mirror thingy.

I discovered the powder recess on my Investarm muzzle loader first tine I used them.

Also interesting sticking one up your nose!

Yes they have many uses. Examing engine cylinder bores and various body parts ..

I took a photo of the screen on my borescope, but even though I have a decent camera I couldn't get a picture to do it justice. Here's my best effort:
