Having used a number the RCBS is the better animal.

They now do a universal model and you can get a larger feed tray option which makes life easy with Federal Primer boxes.

David, went through the same question last year and ended up treating myself to the 21st century one, I was worried about single primer feed but in all honesty it's not much slower than a tray......

Superb feel and adjustment (and quite shiny :p ) beautifully made and although a bit pricey a great bit of kit that I now wouldn't be without :good:

I got mine about 3 years ago, the tray that came with it easily takes the Federal trays. However, they aren't great at flipping, the Lee trays from the on-press priming system (with the angled feed) do it much better and also fit the opening on the RCBS unit.

You could all ways make your own may be another line of merchandise for the shed. If you can make a original Lee hand priming tool with a beefed up lever I'm your first customer.

Good point Alpha, I have made parts for other peoples priming tools in the past but never a complete device. The oldest Lee I have is only about 10 years and I have not seen anything earlier.

When it comes to precision and feel the the original Lee hand primer is very hard to beat even the new age, pay for the label, expensive priming tools do not give any advantage,

The only downside is that they take specific screw in shellholders, fortunately I have a complete set to go with my hand primers.
