While this thread does bring up some good ideas on how to make an off the shelf commercial item more user friendly, I'm a little surprised that an item that is blatantly a fake Chinese copy of an American made product - even copying the maker details & "PATENT" engraved on the original - has been allowed to go past the point of "Here's what I did" to "Here's where to source one..."
As the genuine USA item IS still under PATENT, the Chinese rip-off fakes which seem to populate Ebay should not be on the radar of a serious shooting forum - aside from such posts warning "Here be Dragons" - akin to the olde maritime charts.

Ebay wont do a thing about it as they are skimming off 10% in fees ! And paypal get another 5% aaarggh
I would rather get the real McCoy than a fake. If I am on a budget, I will get a used genuine one.
I have never understood those who buy fakes be it a bipod or a watch or whatever............

The reason the Chinese can get away with this is because they don't have copyright laws like ours and as such cant be prosecuted in there own country for making fakes

Perhaps they think this is part of the model/make name or something? It's like British people who have their name tattooed on them in Chinese/Japanese not realising that it probably says "massive bellend" or something...

I think it's more a case of trying to pass off junk as a genuine item & fool the unwary buyer into parting with money

I looked into this a while back when the first one arrived, not having come across the make before, and apparently, the parent company licensed an early model to a Chinese co. making airsoft stuff..................
The problem was that these were so good a copy that they were being passed off as authentic, and quite a few Americans who bought them were understandably not best pleased.
This is one of those, and as I said, despite being strong and CNC machined, it was completely useless as supplied, so I improved it, and passed on my efforts to anyone else who's interested. Sorry if I've upset anyone.
Anyway, there's no way I would pay just south of 200 quid for a bipod of any make, shape or form. I'd rather spend the money on powder, bullets, and range time.

Just remember, an American patent it's very different to a UK or European one. One being about money, the other being about invention

Thanks for the info Pete. Much appreciated.
I understand those who feel the theft of intellectual property is an issue.
But there are others who believe that intellectual property itself is theft.

How can it be that you have a truly inovative idea that you openly market as your own having put loads of time, effort and resources into which then gets ripped off by someone out to make a quick buck?
I know its legal, but how is it decent?
I guess you should get a petent but the costs of patenting (I am told) often out strips any profit you may make on small niche items.
Personally I am with fluffy on this. Why buy fake?
