Zanes and others I know what it says in the Guidance to the Police and it's very welcome. It should make things a BIT easier BUT when you have a Chief Constable directly answerable to a 'Minister of Justice' who is using firearms legislation as a political tool against the Westminter parliament all bets are off.

The 2015 Guidance has been a revalation and I commend ALL who helped to bring it about esp in relation to Home Loading of ammunition for Sec 7.3 pistols. The other point I would make is that a large number of Police Officers at fairly senior rank are UNAWARE of the existence of the Guidance to the Police. I cannot tell the story at the moment but there are two current cases where when this comes to light a few people are going to have VERY red faces.

Oui en Anglais!
There are two forces 'Under Investigation' by the Inspector of Constabulory or whatever they are called these days about how they issue FACs. One has suspended the manager of their licensing section and is 'Reviewing' all 11,000 FACs issued.

Slightly misleading title there Jeff! A reduction in ammo allowance (AFAIK) is classed as a partial revocation and not something you want on your 'record'. Variation done quickly but low ammo allowance might have bee a bit more accurate!

200rds might be the new plucked-out-of-the-air 'standard' allowance Durham is operating to these days, who knows! 8-)

Will see what they come back with :)

I have my annual usages worked out for each calibre, we whacked off just under 300 rounds at Ponteland yesterday!.

Shooting suddenly becomes a lot more expensive when you write down what you actually use and start thinking about the costs!

Thats why you never EVER do that! lol Last time i went to Otterburn and virtually emptied both ammo safes i sat down and totted it all up, was not a happy bunny!

And as far as i'm concerned a PSG match costs me the £5-35 entry fee and thats it! :D

Just got an email, it's not marked as protected so here it is.

"I did your variation for you, the only reason I can give you for the amount of rounds you were allowed was that 200 was the amount I was advised to give you by one of my more experienced in that calibre colleagues.

If you are unhappy with the amount allocated the only way to try and change this would be to write a letter of concern and send it in along with your certificate for which it would be passed to a supervisor to be assessed."

Given my other 6.5 (260Rem) has a hold allowance of 500 rounds I can't see why this one should be any different.

Letter in the post this week I think.

UPDATE:

I emailed explaining about the 6.5 (260Rem) allowance and got a reply straight back, she's passing it on to her supervisor as she agrees with what I said.

She's going to let me know this afternoon.

When I put the 338 on my ticket, I only put 200 down, thinking I'd never use that much, then got offered a decent quantity cheap, so asked to have it increased to 600 as ticket was in for another variation anyway, no problem.

Roll on to when I got my 357 HD pistol, and they gave me 50x 38/357, after explaining that it means I either buy 50 357 or 50 38's, they increased that to 60x 357 and 60x 38

I think as long as any ammo allocation request is reasonable, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Out of curiosity I've just added up all my allocations, 9,250 all in, so I guess adding an extra 70 pistol rounds isn't a big deal really :)

Yet Section 2 (standard shotgun ammunition) = no limit on what quantity you can buy/own

Just got to send my FAC back and the replacement is printed and ready to send as soon as they get it.
