How do they shoot? On the money "out of the box" or fettling required?

Fine.

- Fun to shoot
- A piece of British history that goes bang
- One of the finest bolt action milsurps around.
- Older/more battered ones are very affordable.
- Great calibre.

What's not to like. Get very respectable groups with mine and actions flawlessly. But they are not precision rifles and were never built to be.Got mine from EFD Rifles, have had no issues at all.

I shot this target from a rest at 100 yards with S&B ball. Rifle is untouched other than cleaning the grease off of it. 4 rounds went into a pretty tight group. I expect the rifle that is waiting for me at the store will do as well!

That looks unusually good for a .303, at least the way I shoot mine... Can you repeat it though? :)

rufrdr, was the first round the flyer? Looks pretty accurate to me.

Grizzly, what's the reason for detaching the magazine to load?

I felt like detaching it. At 3.24 on below I didn't feel like detaching it.

Hmm.
I'm thinking of adding a .303 to my variation that's going in.

The low hit was the first shot so I cranked some elevation to the sight and tried 4 more.

These like new #4mk2 rifles show what the #4 series is capable of compared to rifles that have had 70 years of use and sometimes abuse.
