Can you imagine local plod getting a "Clipe Call", entering a lock up and finding THAT! The whole country would be in lockdown and knee deep in incontinence.
Interesting wee video after Bam Bams " Brownells 3 gun" clip (no pun).

I'm a MARS owner Sim and not happy, what's my recourse from this point on? I only ask as I don't want to be out of pocket, knowing of that bit of the law that says firearms that didn't exist before the 1988 act can be banned and no money given out. What is my recourse at this stage?
First thing is, don't panic. For Continuity ACPO to convince the Home Secretary that the MARS is "especially dangerous", might actually be a struggle. Mrs May is NO fan if the police, either at the coal face or SMT...
But, I've always said they were at risk. Two things got full bore semis banned. The rate of fire and capacity/ease of reload. I would love a lever release AR, but my salary is far too hard earned to have more investment in guns robbed from me by the government. The rights and wrongs will never enter into the argument. Simply put, enjoy it now, but be prepared to lose it, at sometime. You could say that about all guns in the UK, but they will whittle away and other shooters won't even support you when it comes, if their chosen discipline and equipment remains untouched at that time.

It would surprise you how much weaponry is handed in ever day to police stations. It would also surprise you how many police officers shoot for sport. It would also surprise you how many police couldn't give a flying feck what civilians own and shoot.
I know more coppers who would love to see alcohol banned before firearms.

And neither should be banned. I don't smoke but I was appalled when I heard the US state of Hawaii upped the age you could smoke the 21.

There are few companies making some alternatives to lever release AR's that might be interesting Sim. And you are sadly right. I'll be calm and only worry when it becomes an Issue as rightly so the Top brass of the police has p*** MS May (and other Home secretaries successively off Sim). Also these alternatives sound like they'll be cheaper. But I'll take your advice Sim. As much as we sometimes argue, don't ever think I don't value your advice and wisdom. You're one of best

. Also what's SMT?

I am slightly at a loss why the Continuity ACPO think there is a need to spend time and money setting up a phone line to report people in the shooting community who are doing illegal stuff considering there is already a line for that in place!
If I think somebody who is a legal gun owner is doing something illegal I pick up the phone and dial:
999 or 112
Whereupon somebody will ask:
"Which service do you require"?
"Police please"
"Thankyou sir just putting you through..."

Personally I don't think they can/will do anything to self unloading rifles, whether they're MARS or lever release actions, they're not in violation of the law and the MARS in particular has only just gone through home office classification. If anyone goes loco with them, then they'll be gone in a heartbeat as will anything else that isn't a traditional looking hunting rifle.

That's what I was thinking, the made the same noise about LBR's and 50 BMG's. Something tell's me that with that track record and their less than steller relationship with the current home secretary they will not get their way.

Based on those minutes I'm holding off buying any self-unloading firearm.
