The latest Howa's have a superb trigger, straight out of the box, but plenty of adjustment if you want to tinker.

I would agree with you that the Tikka out of the box comes with the better trigger but after that I think our opinions would differ Mike.
The trigger on the Tikka is easily adjusted and personally I don't think that there is any need to replace the trigger spring. The trigger on the Howa is easily reworked by a competent gunsmith so that too doesn't need replacing just fine tuning. I read this morning that Brock & Norris normally charge £30 for such work and the end result is a crisp smooth 2lb let off.
