Mayfair do run practical shoots on a Monday and rotate through .22's (rifles or LBP's), air pistols and gallery rifles. It's invite only though and I think you'd have to be a member of the club. I've been for .22 and gallery rifle nights but with it being Monday I really just can't be bothered. Plus shooting practical type comps indoors feels 'wrong' to me and in some way constricted.

Who can blame him, since I have family connections in the Isle of man, I'm off there as soon as I can to do likewise. Might even give the Peveril range a ring next time I'm there. Say didn't practical shooting in NI become its own entity recently as IPSC NI?

+1 on having a word with Bob Dunkley. If anybody can give advice on practical, it would be him.

Whats funny about that?

From the UKPSA Website they say:
The UKPSA is the governing body for practical shooting within the UK and is the recognised ‘Region’ of the world wide body, the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) in Great Britain.

The United Kingdom Practical Shooting Association was founded in 1977 to represent IPSC shooting in the region. The UKPSA administers the sport, sanctions graded and championship competitions, selects the National Teams, affiliates clubs, organises training and maintains discipline and rules.

The UKPSA caters for all shooters but particularly welcomes novice shooters, who are able to be trained at our well-received safety courses and qualify to compete in practical matches. Shooters of all ages and abilities are able to compete together in our sport, and the UKPSA specifically recognises junior, lady, and senior classes, as well as supporting National teams for men and women across all the gun divisions.
So surely they would be a good start.
