I would say the case/rifle is a "projector", on leaving the barrel the bullet is a projectile as it is being "projected" but before it is moving it is a bullet

+1.
It usually doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce what someone's talking about, even with minimal context.

"Bits of copper and lead with a point at one end" which is how I had to describe them to the woman in our post office after she got worried when I said the parcel contents were bullets!

Jeeeez.... Whenever I'm sending firearms related stuff through the post, I always get creative... I don't like to tell them what I'm sending exactly.
Brass cases have been known to be brass ornaments or brass screws... >.< Never sent any projectiles though... would probably just say lead weights... for "fishing".... fishing V-bulls out of a target maybe
I wouldn't send something thats dangerous, but I don't really want them getting weird with me because I'm sending "'orrible nasty firearm stuff" if you know what I mean...
In terms of this thread. I think anyone that gets pedantic about the use of the word "Head" for "Bullet" when everyone concerned obviously knows what is being talked about needs their bullet examined. It's a non-issue. We all know the score, move on...

I made a nice "Contents are Non-Hazardous" label to stick on each parcel, seems to keep them happy. Mind you, the guy at the UPS drop off point (Spar shop) wasn't happy with the 18Kg parcel of bullets I shipped the other week but that may have been something to do with the weight/medium size box ratio, he trouble lifting it off the counter

Bullets of course.
Do you ever anybody talking about taking a head to the head or a head in the leg? Or infantry coming under a hail of heads? Course you don't.
