I too have a part box of 0.22" dust shot. They will barely penetrate a paper target at a couple of metres.
I remember trying those .22 ones many years ago through a pistol. I was on an 25m indoor range with the rubber backing (it did have a specific name, but can't remember now). fired a couple of shots at a paper target, then noticed something hitting my shins... the damn things were bouncing off the rubber and coming all the way back..!!
I think I've still got the remaining 48 rnds in my safe somewhere..!
