Thank you for the assistance, I will have a think and a surf of the web - hopefully another discussion tomorrow: goodnight.

My first thoughts are towards weight. Your setup not you!
To shoot in F/TR your weight with bipod will need to be below 8.25 Kg. I do not know how much a AI AT weighs but historically people have found it difficult to get AI's with scopes and bipod to come in under weight.
Of course if your club may let you shoot anyway, many do as it is all about encouraging people to shoot, but some won't.
Anyhow, that aside. IOR - great glass, great scopes and not bad price but very heavy (comparatively) and the finish can let them.down.
You haven't mentioned Sightron yet. Great scopes with a proven competition pedigree and they are relatively light. They may not look tactical but you certainly get a lot more for your money than some others.

Re: Recommended scope for AI AT
I have the IOR 4 x 28 tactical on my AE3.Geek wrote:HALODIN - any opinions on IOR scopes?
Its got to be about the best scope on the market for the money.
I bought it from here:
http://www.optics-trade.eu/shop/en/
Zeroed at 200 and shooting at a 1000 there is still over a turn of elevation left.

Re: Recommended scope for AI AT
I would have suggested a single turn 4-16 PMII which will comfortably get you to 1000 yards and be inside the budget however if weight is a consideration look at Sightron.
Re: Recommended scope for AI AT
Th Nightforce i would recommend is the NXS 5.5-22x50 or 56. I would suggest you don't need FFP, there are no real PRS style matches in the UK. We tend to shoot square ranges at known distance so SFP is absolutely fine. I would also suggest matching reticle and turrets is both MOA/MOA or MIL/MIL.
Re: Recommended scope for AI AT
What Ovenpaa said. that scope is what the Army used for the years between stopping the use of the S&B 6x42 and starting out with the .338 and its 5-25 S&B.
quality robust scope, I checked over a scope that had been involved in an IED blast. it still tracked mechanically, although the glass was cracked...

I have been offered one of these by the shop where I have bought the AI for £900 (secondhand)

Re: Recommended scope for AI AT
I have seen one individual using a .338 Barrett with 12-50 PMII for F T/R, as he called it Tactical F T/R, so taking part hopefully shouldn't be a problem.Dangermouse wrote:Geek
