I am Left-handed, but right eye dominant so shoot right-handed when using a rifle, but shoot left handed with a pistol

Re: How many people here shoot left-handed
I shoot pistols right handed and rifles left.
I was a natural left hander but we weren't allowed to be so at school, right handed only.
I was shooting long arms from an early age so it came up naturally to my left shoulder. I started pistol shooting in my early twenties which by that time I had been forced into being right handed.
Eye dominance is irrelevant for me as keep my eyes closed when shooting, nasty, noisy, fiery dangerous things guns.

Re: How many people here shoot left-handed
I shoot left handed.
I had to shoot the SA80 right handed and have often shot 'weak-shoulder' in PR and a few other disciplines.
But mainly I haven't compromised and now have a selection of left-handed rifles after many years of shooting right-handed rifles left hand (or AR types which generally lend themselves to left-handed shooting very nicely).

I write with my left hand, but can be ambidextrous in most things I do, cricket, pool/snooker and have no issue wielding a hammer in either hand (with the same disastrous results from both. I can even shoot pistols with either hand to the same level (though always preferred right).
Rifle shooting however, I have to shoot right handed, practically blind in my left eye.

Re: How many people here shoot left-handed
I'd give myright hnd to be ambidestrous.
Can shoot either side with rifles, not so good weak hand on pistols but can do not too badly.-The missus is right handed and left eye dominant, she turns her head across the sights and does just fine, as 25pdr can testify!

Re: How many people here shoot left-handed
I usually confuse people who see my left handed rifles and think I'm left handed. I have to explain I'm right handed but have impaired vision in my right eye. But I shoot pistols right handed.
Re: How many people here shoot left-handed
I am a lefty and just left eye dominant and I shoot both ways dependant upon what I'm about; shotguns always LH, pistols also and I have a true LH CZ .22 bolt gun...but...I have a particular fondness for classic military rifles which are normally set up for the majority RH, so those I shoot from the right, (and I'm just as bad from that side...).
Even though I wasn't compelled in any way to conform with my peers from a young age, the world is largely set up for the right handed majority, so I have ended up, like many others, as some sort of curious almalgam of handedness - and I actually remember the point in life, (14), when I made the conscious decision to stop fighting against being a lefty and embrace it as far as I could, hasn't worked all ways; I write and kick a ball with my left but hand me a cricket bat/golf club/snooker cue and I will do that right-handed.
I suppose I'm just ruined all ways now
