Are you limited to 100 yards?

Our range is 100M. We have trenches with concrete bases at 20yd, 25, 50 and 100M. These have metal spikes bolied into them, below the line of vision. Target posts have metal bases to fit on the spikes. We can have 30+ shooters, all at different distances with no problems except that perspective results in a 20yd target partially covering a 100yd target on the next firing point---once you know that this can happen, it is easy to allow for it. Web page is never up to date, but does show relevant pictures:

Thorney - first thank you thank you thank you, anyone making a new range in this day and age is to be commended, especially given the work and paperwork needed to make it happen.

Having recently been to a Target shotgun training day, some provision for that (and the ability to change distances between firing point and target), and to be able to handle use of slug, would be a good asset to have and open up your facility to a wider audience.

Ok, thanks for the comments.

I've done a range plan today and at the moment is for-

2 x 100m ranges (10m wide - 4-5 firing points)
2 x 50m ranges (10m wide - 4-5 firing points)
1x 50m (30m wide 12-15 firing points)

All the ranges would have electronic turning and drop down targets at the 100 (where applicable), 75, 50,25. All the ranges would have moveable shooting stands so the 100m ranges could be used at 10m if required. All the targets will have our own camera system so each shooter has their own camera view of their target viewable on a smartphone/ipad.

Targets wise the plan is for drop down, turning targets but also a running target and clays mixed in for good measure. All the ranges would be 'baffled' which will help us on the calibre front. Slug? Not sure, but we will try.

The two 100m ranges are also completely private, no overlooking (if required) so can be used by those keen on their privacy. Will get an artists impression made up.

You may want to reconsider the withd of each firing point 4-5 in a 10m width is a bit cramped. Check out JSP 403, you need about 3 or 4 meters width per point.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the flooring / construction of the ground area and i think it may be worth researching. I'm sure we have all been on water logged ranges at some point, it would be a shame to overlook drainage in the ground work. Additionaly I wonder if the flooring could assist with the amount of sound that leaves the range.

Keep in mind that people will want to pick up spent brass as well, especially true out to 25 yards.
