Lodge with an RFD and tell no one at home

shot guns to mates as shared guns , rifles into storage now , don't hestate , just do it.

its none of their business. you have no obligation to inform them. you just need to ensure it is returned to good order when you leave

Thanks to all who have offered their advice, particularly those who have sat where I am now.

First chance I get I shall get them out - as many shotties as I can fit in my dads cabinet, the rest to RFD and a quick email to my friendly FEO once all is in place to make sure all bases are covered

If you store in someone else cabinet they have access to your guns which wont be on their license also if they are lodged with an RFD there is a record of you accessing them so if you are accused of using them as a threat but you haven't touched them your in the clear

Which is, in the case of shotguns as people were saying above, perfectly fine. The only thing that needs doing if it's more than 72 hours (as it sounds like it will be in this case) is for them to be written on to the other persons SGC as "Lent" and an email sent to the local licensing office to notify of the transfer.

I'm sure the person storing them will be happy to sign a statement certifying that Tommy does not have access to the cabinet would be reasonable evidence. Perhaps an RFD is a bit more infalliable as a witness though.

They are indeed and within striking distance of where I work, have dealt with them in the past.

I have a friend in Eastbourne also who is an RFD who can help but he's a bit of a trek for me, will have to see.

I get the reasoning behind getting them all lodged etc. so that is likely the way I'll go.

It's my boys I really worry about, my eldest (5) is starting to pick up on what's afoot - apparently he wanted to know 'where's daddy' this morning, seems she let him know.

It is done, told her I'm moving back after giving her a few days and she says she's leaving - and taking the children with her.

I had hoped we could, I don't know, not make it 'work' but at least give the boys the stability of all being under the same roof again while we sort out what comes next because as hard as it is to accept, (for me at least!) we are over, but she's using them as a weapon I think to keep me away to set the precedent of dad being away so therefore doesn't care/has moved on already and then slap me with visiting once a month or something.

It all just smells rotten like this has been planned for a while and now I'm being inconvenient by not following the script

Store with RFD or transfer to clubs FAC & store there? but in either case post the RFD receipt / photo the club storage log to yourself at work with a copy of the days newspaper, lock that in the cabinet..... & keep the keys at work.......;-)

If the guns are not for others to use trigger lock them. Or keep the bolts in a cash box with them.


To tell, or not to tell the FLO... that is a question?

Some may think they tend to over react, withdraw FAC to 'be on the safe side' & you end up losing it all & fighting to get it back one day, others might say you have done the responsible thing. Do you know your FLO? ask others in the area / club?

Its a $hit time but it will get better, do the best by your kids one day they will respect you for it.
