Had a couple of early Hawk SR12s. They worked very well with a PCP for rabbitting, however, both developed fungus on the erector tubes and had to be replaced.

I must point out that this was not down to storage or care, I look after my kit, but also to be fair to Deben they were replaced in advance.

Good for the money, but I felt the rets rather thick preffering the MTCs. I have looked through a few S&Bs recently and still prefer the ret on my elcan for that reason, the same going for the sightron, that too has a nice precise ret.

Very subjective.

They are not too bad for the money if you only want to shoot at club level on ranges in good light but don't think for one moment that they will match the optical quality of the better scopes. As has been said so many times before you only get what you pay for.

I had a 3-9x40 Sport HD on a HW97K that I use around the farm for rats and rabbits, it gave up the ghost last week after nearly 10 years of good service. Managed to get my hands on a Nikko Rangemaster 5-20 x 50 at a very good price on Sunday and there is quite a difference in clarity between the two although I haven't had a chance to look through a modern Hawke.

I have a Hawke 3-9x40 `Frontier` with mil-dot reticule fitted to my K31, I have used it out to 800 yards, knocking down fig 11's.

The optics are good for the money and so far, it has handled several hundred rounds of 7.5x55 Swiss without issue.
