A few strange range rules...but interesting.
Pity they're too far from me
One of the advantages of Morton to me is that it's a much closer distance than the BSA range in Perthshire: but the MAIN advantage is that I won't be reliant on one of Stevie Wonders classmates for target marking. A secondary advantage is that it's indoors, so safe from weather related cancellations. The closer MoD range at Castlelaw has the added weather issues plus the bonus of cancellation at the last minute if a military unit wishes to shoot.
Vintage Arms use Castlelaw as their main range: 12 shoots a year, for £120 fee. Start losing dates due to external factors & the average price per shoot gets above what lane sharing at Morton Clays will cost...plus no queuing for your name to be called to fire your next 12 shots...
Morton has a full club house with proper meal facilities too...

Yes! I stopped going to Vintage arms shoots because of all that. I understand the problems of cost of hire of the range, but to travel from Greenock and be told the shoot is cancelled or only getting 24 rounds off in total.
Plus the toilets are miles away and your not allowed to pee in the bushes because there are Wimmin present.
Plus it is getting even harder now to shoot downloaded cast at other ranges I use, as the squint and squeeze mobs are mumping and moaning.
Yep! Morton sounds good.

They have an 6 lane full-bore range 3300fps/5200ft/lbs
Expanding ammo allowed, £25 per person an hour. Must have Target shooting on FAC.
Not getting any full-bore just now what with the weather, Gareloch and Castlelaw Military ranges being shut just now.
Investigating Club rates, also fancy just going for a personal fun shoot now and again.
Anybody been yet?
Have they had a re-think then as originally expanding ammo was not going to be allowed?
Probably realised that any commercial range that did not allow the use of expanding ammo would have limited appeal and wouldn't last long.

Their site clearly stated expanding allowed.
Still down I see though.
Remember, must state Target use on FAC. Friend who owns large farm wanted to zero indoors but was refused, no target use on his FAC.

I've heard such silliness stated before, in fact by a local FEO in respect of a new club member who already had a FAC for sporting use. He backed down when it was pointed out that the guy was simply zeroing or conducting reasonable practise for the field and not actually target shooting.
