Thanks, will give the cleaner a try and see how it turns out, I've only ever cleaned brass with scotchbrite/a scouring pad before, so will be interested to see the difference.

Ps. The version from Lidl was £16.99 for the silvercrest model and came with a warranty. :good:

Shouldn't be a problem, I use mine for cleaning carburettors and other engine parts, gets all the gunk out no problem.

I have the larger Maplin one with the built in heater. I put my AR bolt in and the water went really dirty, oh good I thought that's got it clean. Nope, it had started to take the coating off. I think that it might have been a temperature issue but beware if you're cleaning parts.

Hmmmm interesting, I throw the bolt group parts and handle in every 10 shoots to get into all the little hard to get to places, never had a problem with anything coming off. Mine is a heated one as well though I don't turn on the heat when cleaning the parts, cold gets all the crud out easily.

was it some sort of paint? as ultrasonics pretty much destroy that

Mine did a great job of cleaning triggers (amazing how much crap came out).
When cleaning dies it started to peel the nickel plating off the lock nut.
Never had much success cleaning brass though.
