Re: Downloaded ammunition
Can anyone post up a copy of the NRA insurance policy ? I asked Endsleigh for a copy some time ago but they've failed to deliver. Thx
Re: Downloaded ammunition
I was just wondering what the gallery rifle rule book said on the matter as I know that in the past it specifically ruled out the use of full magnum ammo for recognised competition. The latest version of the rule book now says-dromia wrote: So shooting 44 magnum in a gallery rifle course of fire is fine as it is recognised by a governing body, but it must be full power ammunition as reduced handloads aren't covered. Full stoke factory ammunition could well be over the range certificate so still not covered. NSRA are a complete waste of space and are only interested in their smallbore target shooting competitions/disciplines.
"A2.2.2 All GRCF must comply with the following:
a. Calibre. Any centrefire calibre. The muzzle velocity must not exceed 2150 ft/sec
and the muzzle energy must not exceed 1496 ft. lbs. “Downloaded” fullbore rifle
ammunition is not permitted"
So it now seems that full magnum loads are now back in so long as you don't exceed any range limitations.
Re: Downloaded ammunition
So we shoot on a range certificated by a chap from the NSRA, run by an assoc that is insured & affiliated by the NSRA & predominately practices NSRA small bore target shooting. But we are an NRA affiliated & insured club. The range cert specifies MV & max Joules so we can legitimately shoot downloaded ammo to be with those limits & are covered by the NRA insurance?
NSRA insurers have lost the plot.
