Ah another company that makes sense, I was thinking like you for a minute that there may be some converted Sec 5 rifles around. I'm sure an ITL rifle will be the same as any other out there as they have to be built from parts that haven't previously been on a Sec 5 rifle. Out of interest when I put in for a variation on mine they couldn't add .30 M1 as Surrey didn't have it in their system so could only add .30 for info I also shoot mine indoors with lead boolits and 5 grains of N320, maybe our range rules are a bit more forgiving than most as it's based on calibre, ie no bigger than .455 and also based on MV and ME and not on type of cartridge, I also shoot the AK based on this, I met with some resistance but there was nowt they could do as I met all the criteria.

Only one from ITL the others are the "original" made ones.
They all shoot very well.
As said plenty of cheap spares around.
Tony
I'm interested to know what "original" means as I have an ITL M1 Carbine, the action, stock etc is original but as far as I know the original barrel is not allowed as it is gas ported.
How does it work if the receiver is original?, as surely it would be a section5 receiver?.
Take a dozen M1 carbines. They are S5 firearms. Take the barrels, bolts and receivers apart and you have 12 barrels, 12 receivers, 12 bolts and zero fireams; under US law the receiver is the firearm, but under UK law only a firearm is a firearm.
Now take one of each component and put it together in a way that is not readily and unreversibly convertible to S5 status. This may involve installing a brand new barrel without a gas port. (Sell the original barrels in countries with more civilised gun laws.) Congratulations, you now have 12 UK-legal M1 carbines.

I bought my M1 Carbine off Cotswold Arms back in 2001. The way they approached the manufacturing was to use an American company, IMI who were already making a semi-auto version for the US market. They used newly Manufactured Receivers, along with new non gas ported Barrels. The bolts are probably new manufacture as well. IMI no longer trade.
ITL have taken a batch of original Receivers and put new non ported barrels on them. You'll remember you can now use Receivers from S5 Firearms as long as they have been supplied in kit form, which is just a collection of S1 and other enabling parts. This practice has been proved to be legal after consultations were made with the HO and ACPO before the SP L1A1s were produced. This has now spread to the manufacture of M14s and M1 Garands and of course the ITL M1 Carbines before both of those.
Interesting thing about the ITL product, I've seen a relatively rare low serial numbered National Postage Meter (417,017 produced) Receiver and another rarer Rock-Ola one (228,500 produced). Shame they've ended up neutered over here as over in the US, such manufacturers are fairly sort after.
Inland made the greatest number of all manufacturers with a total of 2,392,388+ produced.
