Re: Merkel Helix
Yes. I have one on order.
I've recently been forced off motorbikes permanently and was feeling sorry for myself. After selling a couple of the bikes and the wife starting to make hints about rugs, curtains, etc I decided to treat myself to a quality woodland stalking and boar rifle.
I had originally shortlisted the Mauser M03 or the Blaser R8. However the Mauser proved too unwieldy and the Blaser is inferior to the Merkel, both in materials and engineering. They are beautiful rifles but I had a bugger of a time getting one in my chosen calibre, synthetic but not a God awful camouflage pattern. Hence having to order.

Re: Merkel Helix
Ordered from a guy in West Yorkshire. The only dealer prepared to do the research and got back to me to explain that my favourite calibre, 25-06 wasn't available. He also offered to order me the plain black synthetic in 6.5x55, guaranteeing it at current prices.
I'm now scheming to get another one, another model. If I can sell my last motorbike. It'll break my heart but I'm sure the new rifle will help deal with the sorrow

Re: Merkel Helix
Why not buy a second barrel rather than a second Helix - these modern switch-barrel rifles really work, I've had a Sauer for 26 years which has perfect return to zero.
Re: Merkel Helix
Sorry, maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. The second rifle is the Merkel DB141 double rifle. He can source one in 9.3x74R but ideally id like it in 30-06 which is available but harder to find.
Re: Merkel Helix
Got you - still very nice presuming you have a use for such a rifle, I can't think of a better option than hairy piggies myself.

Not mine - mine should arrive soon. Look how ugly this is:

6.5 not common calibre for them in UK seemingly.
