The fashion industry makes a fortune from "camo" patterns - especially desert pattern - these days........

I don't see the issue, plenty folks wear it on building sites, gardening etc etc...Not sure which countries have a downer on it but it's certainly not something the UK government should concern itself with....

Do that and what next, no "all black" outfits, black boiler suits, "tactical footwear such as 5.11 and OTB boots, balaclaves, ski masks, ski goggles...all have a military look..and what about day sacks/ rucksacks or whetever..my 5.11 ruckie bag and holdall has been excellent value for money these last 7 years or so. Any government interference in what we wear is just silly, they have too much say as it is...where would they draw the line....I can think of some other clothing items that should be banned before mil-surp clothing!

OK dressing up top to toe in a white and blue splinter camouflage and combat boots to go shopping (in Walmart where else!!!) is a bit daft I admit..and no way was this person service personnel!

I understand.

And tempting as it it would be to carry on regardless by claiming that its not military uniform etc, I decided to take the path of least resistance thus avoiding any confrontation.

No. We can regulate ourselves, no.matter how heated the arguments get on here and elsewhere.

Plus, as 762 says, there's already a law in place.

Absolutely NOT.

Philosophically I am a bit of an anarchist (not to be confused with those mask-wearing w*nkers at the G20 riots who probably can't even spell anarchist). As far as I am concerned, there are already too many damned people trying to tell everybody what they can and can't say, what they can and can't do - now you suggest that they should be told what they can and can't wear? Where does it all end?

MTP was designed by a private firm, Crye Precision.: for the commercial & military markets.

The British Army issue MTP clothing is a variation of the Crye designed MTP pattern.

Would the ban be on current military issue items only?
What about the loss of crown revenue from the sales of such surplus?

I suppose that viewed from 500 yards head to toe realtree is just as offensive to the anti camo brigade as MTP or DPM.

Viewed from 500 yards, dressed in realtree, would they see you?

Not very good camouflage if they did. :D
