What demonic said

- since when did we have to show ID on demand in the UK?? Don't encourage them!
Probably just radioing his mates to make sure you got off the train elsewhere....and didn't decorate it mid journey!
As Mr Smith says, Xmas is a season for increased suicides, and not just because "Sir Cliff" or Geldoff have a new record out!

isn't there something about an officer can detain you until he has ascertained your ID?

A police employee can do whatever he damn well pleases. That is the practical effect of the law. If you feel hard done by or put upon it is up to you to take the police to court and prove your case.
With regard to your FAC. It is prudent to assume the BTP employee has run a PNC check on you. Police employees do not meet their targets by being nice to people or acting like ordinary civilians. Your licensing department will have been notified, almost certainly if you gave your name and address. Contact your FEO tomorrow and ask what's been said or done.

why do you think anything is likely to happen, full stop.
you'll probably find the cop only PNC'd you to check for warrants etc, or priors. as if you'd had previous issues with weed, i'm sure the cops nose would have magically smelt weed and you would have been stop checked for drugs.
as it was, you walked away, so you weren't an issue to anyone or he would have detained you... in other words, dont worry.
