Danny, if using trailboss, be aware that it MUST NOT BE COMPRESSED !! To get to a s/sonic load, you need to work down from max, to work out the max load, fill a case up to where the base of the bullet is when seated, then weigh the charge, that's your max load, work down from there until your bullets are running reliably subsonic, then, as long as they are still stable, fit your moderator and do any tweaks from there.
The Lapua bullets are waisted as they are to reduce friction in the bore, don't worry about playing around with flash holes, keep them standard. FYI, 10 gr of TB under a 175 gr smk works well in my 26" 1-11" TRG. I have some of the Lapua B416 bullets to load up, but been busy working sub loads for the 223 and 338. Good luck, let us know how you get on

Cheers Pete. The flash holes are done now but there dedicated for subsonics so no real issue. Look forward to trying this should be fun!

What sort of distance are you going to be shooting them at?, using the Hodgdon listed load of 8g of TiteGroup with a 168gr A-Max, I found that they were tumbling quite badly at 100m.

Less than 2000Joules = 20000000000 Ergs, or 0.00000048 Ton/TNT EqExp. = 1.89 Btu = 1475 FtLbs?

Less than 900m/s= 1750 knots, 4.47 furlongs/s or 35000 inch/s, 2950 Ft/s?
Those are the range cert limits. Its been a prone .22 x100yds NSRA type range for years, want to use something that wont alarm them :-) too much
- we want it to have some kick & be used at 100yds, not be too noisy & be fairly cheap, once developed it will be made by a HSE approved house then used to train / Scouts / kids Jnr members. All 5000 RG cases over the last 3 years have been hydraulically deprimed sign01 & will be scrapped after one (more) use.

Will be mostly 100 but I know the yanks are pushing them a lot further. Bear in mind my barrel was designed for subs it's a 8" twist so stabilisation shouldn't be an issue.

Using the Hodgdon data, reaching out to 200m was not a problem - without any sign of tumbling and good accuracy. That was with a 18 inch barrel with a 1in 12 twist. HTH.

Hmmm, might 300 mards be achievable with subsonic .308 and reasonable (2 MoA) accuracy ?

I've seen steel being clanged on videos from the us at that distance.
