This is elementary grade cast boolit shooting, bloody quest indeed.
A bit harsh and a tad personal!!!

I've used DogyRog's 123gr (soup can and round nose versions) and 162gr Loverin as well as 165gr RNFP from Shell House Bullet Co. in a 26" barreled .308 and a 16" barreled .300aac. Loaded with various amounts of N310 they've all produced more than acceptable results at 25m and beyond so it's certainly doable

as for your rifle! it isn't sexy. If a Lee Enfield could shag some piece of commie crap, that b@stard would be the end result
Ouch ... that sounds like a tad of gun snobbism or what ??
Anyway I beg to differ. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and IMO those AIA are very very sexy indeed
Each to its own, but considering mil-surp 7,62x39 is the cheapest ammo available in the UK, I truly don't see what is not to like about that rifle for a 100 to 200 yards shoot day.

I like the rifles, if you can find one that shoots.
However it is much like the MAS 36, a good gun, but absolutely ugly, no two ways about it.

The same is said by about half of the shooters & rifle amateurs about the Smelly, while the other half, me included, find it superb with its "Pig nose". Now as far as the AIA aesthetics are concerned, beside the flash hider and the curve of the mag, it is pretty close to the No. 5 Mk I that people like the look of but hate shooting ? Thanks God there isn't a supreme judge that has the pretence or arrogance of knowing what is beautiful and what is not otherwise the world of guns would be a much blander place.
Anyway, the more Chinese, the less rice, the less Chinese, the more rice !
Utterly delighted some people don't like them Adam

Nope nothing snobbish about it, you wrote it yourself that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and each to their own. Well in my eyes that thing is fugly.

I have one and with Tula surplus can hit Fig 12 on sennybridge G range out to 400 something yards.
I have it zeroed at 300 and it will shoot 5 rounds into about 5 inches.
I bought it purely as a fun rifle but have used it in LERA Enfield challenge and CQB match.
I have not had much success with cast in it!

That's interesting I have not had much success with cast in mine either except to discover it prefers a loverin boolit. Im having a good old measure of every thing at the moment before I get under way. Hmmm

If you have been using condoms bullets in it then have you got the last bit of copper fouling out.
It could just be one of those barrels that won't shoot cast with copper fouling in it.
What are the throats like on it, anyone taken an impact cast of theirs?
The tapered loverins are designed as throat fillers so success with them could indicate generous throat reaming.
