I reread your original post I see you say some of the cases did not go off and were difficult to extract.
Why did they not go off and if they did not go off why were they difficult to extract.

Yes it's Vit N140 going back in the Vit N140 tub. Whilst I always clean my cases with dry walnut, I wasn't sure if any residue from the cases would adversely effect the propellant in the tub. I'm probably fusing too much but still, I just wanted to be sure.

From memory the bolt didn't fully rotate in to the closed position on the M14, although at a casual glance it looked like it had. If I remember correctly, the primers were untouched although the firing pin went through the motion. To look at the round, they looked fine, but then I realised I had the same problem with a non-primed brass case from the same batch and a full length resize fixed it. From memory it was the 6th neck resize with FDC brass having full length resized them originally.

It's all part of the reloading learning experience and now I'll full length resize them every 5-6 reloads, depending if they were originally shot in my rifle or not.

Is this because it's a straight pull rifle I'm not familiar with straight pull actions. Just sounds a bit odd to me.

Yes it would have been much less of an issue in a bolt action rifle, because it's easier to see when the bolt is fully closed and they're easier to extract the round from. We had a live round in a rifle, I couldn't shoot off and I was struggling to get out. In the end 2 of us managed to pin the rifle down and extract it, but it wasn't a nice position to be in, because extraction can set the round off and there was an extra pair of hands on the rifle at the time. I suppose you also run the risk of a slam-fire if you're fighting with a spring loaded bolt as well. I meant to look into making some sort of ratcheted strap to help with hard extractions but I haven't got round to it yet. Extraction on the M14 is normally trivial, it was just my brass that caused the issue.

Glad to see you cracked on. For reference with a Redding body die you can resize a live round. I have done a few...

I didn't, I just cracked on and did it.

The body die resizes the body only, there is no contact with bullet or primer. So while it feels dodgy, logically, it can't go off as a result.

I fully understand what you're saying, but the die would probably turn in to a grenade if pressure from resizing the case set the primer off. Unlikely I know, but it sounds risky...

Well I've also done it without any problems. I had hard extraction issues in a straight pull went using 5.56 RG, no problems went using GGG milurp or my reloaded. Ran the RG though my resizing die (sans decapping pin of course) and they now extract easily.
