I only have rimfire ammo entered on my ticket. I reload for everything else, including 12ga slug. My answer should it be asked how much I've loaded? I keep a pasta sauce jar on the shelf with all my spent primers in it....

My .22 allowance is 2,300 and that was just because I chucked loads of the stuff down range. I doubt there's a better reason than that!

Is it any of FEO's business what you reload and in what quantity - and even IF one reloads?

I'm allowed 1200 .22+ 600 17hmr+ 600 .308+ 600 .303 .. Erm .. I've only got a small ammo safe ... Go figure !!

Well I mentioned in my accompanying letter that I am shooting competitively for the county squad, so if those are the guidelines, hopefully although I've mentioned "bulk buying" they'll read between the lines and understand that it's the consistency/accuracy that I'm after, rather than just an economy of bulk purchase.

Hopefully if they have any quibbles, they'll call me directly and I can discuss with them based on what I've gleaned from this thread.

Course it is, if you are not a collector you don't have any indication of useage

Hi Sim

I have got quite a good opinion of my FEO, he works pretty hard and knows his stuff, but he still gets mired down by some of the local slants (slants that technically should never happen).

I had hell of a job convincing him that I needed a collectors slot just to collect expanding ammo (inert).

His argument was that it was not a round of ammo until all the components were assembled.....I could not argue with that.

He also argued that you could buy the damned things on fleabay, so why did I need a slot?

I pointed out that should he move on, or I get collared coming home by another force with even an inert round of expanding, job, FAC, freedom could (potentially) go west.

So he simply said sod it, I will put you down for AP, they will have to give you a slot then....which they did.

This is the real problem with the various forces doing their own thing and interpreting the rules.

I live in Hampshire, but I shoot in Dorset and Surrey, and have travelled and shot in Kent and Lancashire.....will they all have the same parameters?

I don't know.

Curious. Mine never asked.

I don't keep a log of how many rounds I load and certainly don't keep used primers as evidence and I never enter reloads onto my FAC.
I do keep a log however, of the amount of ammunition I hold, partly to have an accurate record if the unthinkable happens and it is stolen.

In my view, ammo stock limits are laid down and entered onto your FAC and it is the individual's duty to adhere to such limits on pain of prosecution. I see no sense in individual FAC holders adding unnecessary layers of bureaucracy when it is not needed. We jump through enough hoops already.

As far as I am concerned, the mere fact that I was granted a Firearms Certificate, (43 years ago) proves that I am a law abiding citizen who can be trusted to adhere to the terms and conditions as entered onto my certificate.
