Re: Range fud, ever met one?
Oh don't get me started on this one............ :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:
We have the ultimate wukfit at the club, who will shoot his match cards as quickly as possible (and score absolute Shoite) and then you will see his spotting scope swing over onto someone else's target so that he can watch them shoot their cards.
He will then wait until they have finished shooting and then utter the words "WHAT HAPPENED THERE THEN" before following the hapless shooter down to the butts to inspect his cards more thoroughly.
He will then hold all of his 25yd ten bull cards under your nose and explain each and every bloody shot that he took; where it went; why it went there and how he was holding the rifle at the time.
Those that are out of the bull (most of them) are given an excuse and are obviously not really HIS fault, whilst the odd "Ten" will be be boasted about due to the ultimate accuracy of his rifle, and the reason why it has never been cleaned or had to be re-sighted whenever he gets a new batch of ammunition. (He doesn't seem to notice that the first shot from a new batch of ammo sometimes seems to go in a different place)
He will then pack up his gear and wait until we have all finished shooting before reclining into a chair to watch us all pack the targets etc away whilst he inspects his cards yet again. He then follows us up to the social club (at a discreet distance so that he isn't first up to the bar) orders a drink and goes and sits down to await its arrival.
He will carefully sup this pint until someone asks "What's everyone having" at which point he will gulp down the remainder and hold out his glass for a re-fill. This will carry on all night until it's closing time at which time it becomes apparent that we have all finished our drinks and he is still cradling a couple of inches of beer desperately waiting for the towels to go on so that he doesn't haver to buy a round.
At Christmas he will turn up to the Xmas shoot and drink as much of the free booze as is humanly possible and gets so drunk that all guns are taken away from him. Over the last 4-5 years this has become so bad that on the 2012 and 2013 shoots he became so frikkin; pi$$ed that he fell over and lay on the floor until it was time to pack up. ........Last Christmas we banned all drinks from the club and when the shoot had finished we all went home and left the tight b****** there............he had actually turned up in his daughter's car and expected (as usual) one of the lads to get him home and carry/drag him into the house.
And he is so thick-skinned you can't even insult the twonk into changing his ways, because he simply doesn't seem to bleedin' care.
aaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Re: Range fud, ever met one?
I must be pretty lucky in that although there are a few people that are 'hard work' in a couple of my clubs, i've not experienced stuff as bad as listed here.
Or maybe i'm THAT guy........

Not sure why he's not been disciplined/chucked out for this sort of behaviour? I can see this ending in tears all round if it goes on.
Or is this one of "those" stories? I'm not sure I quite believe that a proper club allows alcohol to be consumed (to excess it would sound like) whilst firearms are being handled.

Re: Range fud, ever met one?
No............this NOT one of those stories made up for the forum, this is very real and we have had discussions as to whether he should be chucked out. But when a member has been around for over 30 years and is now in his 70's it becomes very difficult and no-one wants to see him lose his shooting or his gun (he only owns a smallbore match rifle).......so what do we do???zanes wrote:Not sure why he's not been disciplined/chucked out for this sort of behaviour? As for the booze; it's once a year at Christmas, when we take in a couple of bottles of Scotch and a few cans of beer and for the most part all we have a is a couple of tots. It's this idiot who thinks that because it's Christmas, and the drinks are free, he should take advantage and spoil it for everyone. Which he has done because we now no-longer enjoy a Christmas shoot in the way we have for the last 30+ years
Not in the habit of inventing things and maybe vented a little too much, but this is all very true.
Wish I hadn't bothered now......don't much enjoy being called liar

Re: Range fud, ever met one?
every club has at least one ,we currently have two
one who goes on about reloading and cant really remember what he did yesterday
and another who has been a member for about 2 years and knows everything
In the motor trade they are referred to as LDC's

Drunk at a gun club, with his gun and still a member - wonder why people worry about shooting as a sport. Glad this forum can't be read by those anti-gun types.
