I want to build a rifle for hunting competitions in Denmark, typical rifles are 6.5x55SE in a biathlon type stock with heavy barrel. MB's and Moderators are not allowed. They are mostly one day events shooting at a mixture of animal shaped targets at anything from 75m to 300m (ish) Scoring zones are hidden to you need to know the anatomy of the larger beasts, Typically deer, boar, hare, rabbit and larger birds.

Everything is shot with mechanical supports, mornings are the qualifiers and the finals are at deer at 100/200/300. Typically all against the clock:

300m prone
200m kneeling
100m standing

Grand finale is rifle on the floor and shooter standing, at the signal get down and shoot 5 rounds in 20 seconds at 100m.

These are National competitions and the atmosphere is second to none with the spectators moving forwards behind the shooters, and then running back to view the score boards. Last years favourite threw it all away by shooting by putting a nice group in the backside of the target. That caused a few sharp intakes of breath

Is this why you were asking about the 6.5x47/55 in the Hunting section?

Yes. I/we have talked about this since we watched a competition last September and the Viking just happens to have a spare 6.5x55 slot on her FAC ;)
