The oompa loompa doesn't mean 4 moa group, he will mean 4 moa of elevation from his 100 yd zero. Not rainbow loop!!

Update on my original post
Just Chronographed the load, average velocity is 2648 with an ES of 16fps
Thats near enough for me in a stalking rifle

Note: in my first post I incorrectly stated the charge weight as 47.00 grains of TR140, it was actually 47.40 grains
I have checked the cases again for pressure signs, (picture below) and whilst the primer shows signs of a little flattening/cratering, I do not regard it as a dire warning, the bolt cycled perfectly.

that was me, I shot a club McQueens comp where a reportedly "fresh" target was marked as having 17 holes , after I fired 10 rounds at it, :shakeshout: the point being that the load grouped well

If you are relying on primers for signs of pressure then you are living very dangerously especially at top loads.

I will take any advice I can get from more experienced reloaders.
I checked all the cases after each shot from the lowest charge to the highest under a magnifying glass.
Not just the primer but the neck, web etc and there was hardly any difference, in addition the bolt showed no signs of stiffness and the cases extracted easily throughout.

Can you tell me please what else I should be looking for, as I said any advice would be appreciated.

Update. Just read your sticky about "signs of pressure" very interesting but I can not see anything untoward with my cases.

OK, I started this load at 45.50 grains of TR140 and moved up by 0.50 grain increments to 47.40.
The velocity average @ 45.50grs started at 2513fps with an ES of 14fps.
Over 5 increasing loads the final average velocity @ 47.40grns increased by 135fps with an ES of 16fps

The size of the cartridge (Lapua) base of a previous load (Varget and well below max charge) is 0.469 measured 1/4" up from the head, the measurement of a fired case from the max load is identical, further measurements up the case revealed no difference in size. Is this worthy of mention or does it mean nothing because the case can only expand as far as the chamber will allow, what about springback though, arrrrgh now I am spooked. :cool2:
