The use of ANY SUCH condition is discretionary on the decision of the Chief Constable...if they are happy with normal S.1 conditions, then the FAC will reflect this

The previous wording was very very vague. It could be anyone who was a UKPSA member. Who is to say what makes them 'qualified'. The new wording reads that it needs to be a COF approved by one of the 4 organisations.

HOWEVER... The guidance says this:

13.56 Pump-action, self-loading and other types of shotgun may be used for ‘practical’ target
shooting disciplines in which the shooter moves to engage a number of different targets.
Applicants should normally be a member of a relevant organisation such as the National
Rifle Association, the United Kingdom Practical Shooting Association or National Target
Shotgun Association, either individually or as a member of an affiliated club. For ‘End of
Trail’ shooting, a set of practical disciplines with a ‘Wild West’ theme, the British Western
Shooting Society (BWSS) is the relevant organisation. In view of the potential hazards
associated with the more extreme forms of practical shooting, the police will wish to
consider with particular care applications for firearms for ‘practical’ shooting that falls
beyond the examples cited above.

So the guidance says you should be a member of one of the above organisations or a member of an affiliated club... that's not really what the OP's condition says to me...

Thanks for clarification. Wonder why it was amended yet again...

I wish they'd impose some proper version control on the guidance. I had no idea there was a June update until last week, and now there's yet another amendment!

Agreed by Old Guard Daleks and New Guard Daleks so that they can maintain control. There is really no need for a special condition as S1 Shotgun and Slug use should be covered by the other standard conditions found on FACs for Target Shooting.

:roll: Do you REALLY think that UKPSA, F4i or whoever REALLY want these conditions on FAC shotgun shooters (and their own) certificates at all!?

Mark.. the original suggestions as per the current (June '14) published guidance make sense, and I think most were happy with them. I.e a member directly or of an affiliated club to NRA, UKPSA, NTSA or BWSS.

Quite why this has changed again to possibly worse conditions than the original ones is beyond me....

Hopefully the conditions on my FAC will remain the same as they are now. I.e, I can use any of my firearms for target shooting as long as the range is suitable and there's insurance. None of this special association bo...cks!

Saddler, have you got a link to where you gleaned this info from?

Daleks can't let go

A better position would have been the same as for all other Target Shooting but I suppose what they have now is better, or maybe not, than before but still unnecessary.
