Wouldn't it be quicker just to pick up the phone and speak to Norman first hand?

I too have heard this rumour. You won't get anything out of the police and they certainly won't name Mercer. The boilerplate statement goes "we attended (address) and no further action was taken". Even if anything did happen, the police will only say "a XX-yr-old man accepted a caution for (insert one of the usual catch-all offences)". I don't know what Surrey are like but the Met press office seem to have stopped confirming arrests, even without identifying details.

It is a very accurate statement if applied to the Imperial, the Phoenix is booked through a different source. Trade prices were hoiked excessively for the Imperial meeting and then reduced at the 11th hour, far too late for many trade members to reverse decisions and even then they were up on last years prices. The CLA was cited by the NRA as a cost comparison however there is a subtle difference in that the CLA were guaranteeing a footfall of 50k over the show, the Imperial as mush as I like it is not going to see 50,000 people.

I still have the original NRA booking forms for 2014 and can probably find the invoice for 2013 if anyone is interested, there is an eye watering increase.

The NRA in the form of Chris Dyers did eventually notify us of a significant drop in trade prices with many of the originally imposed restrictions removed, as I say, for many it was just too late. Andrew Mercer and Chris Dyers both also committed to come and discuss the future of trade stands at the Imperial events however for the two days I was there as a guest of Actionclear UK I certainly did not see hide nor hair of either of them despite assurances which was disappointing as we had already agreed to discuss some other matters with Andrew Mercer.

As to the original rumour it will have to stay as just that, a rumour until something firm is printed or formally denied.

I would love to hear Karen's views on this.

I think I saw a figure for this years CLA of in excess of 125k people over the 3 days........

I spent the Sunday on the Scott Country stand on gunmakers row, it was hectic all day.

I would think the CLA is WELL north of 50k (knocking on triple that rings a bell); for comparison I've heard a small stall at the CLA this year was around £1500 for 3 days (plus extras).

A contact had a stand of about 3m x 3m or 3m x 4m and that cost them £3000 for the 3 days at Blenheim. Just work out what a stall holder needs to take to cover costs of the stand, accommodation and stock!
