I've found it to be utter crap, out of a box of 15 rounds I'm lucky if half of them have actually gone off, I've pulled loads of the damn things.

I now buy S&B for £45 per 100, that's fantastic stuff, and it isn't corrosive.

To be fair, that is my assumption, however, I bough 2 lots of 100 rounds from 2 different dealers, each batch performed the same. As you say though, many others have had a great performance from them, and the guys from my old fullbore club were extremely surprised at what was happening. (For note it definitely is not the gun, Portuguese surplus and all other ammo have worked fine, so it's not the firing pin as I first thought.)

They have hard primers, I changed the firing pin spring on my K98 which resolved the issue.

Not had an issue with hard primers on either of my Mausers and not had any rounds not fire.


New steel cased 8x57/7.92 ammo for sale £50 per 100 at C&G cheap enough if not into reloading.

Same on my K98 as well.
I have put approx 900 rounds of the stuff through mine and had 4 cases split longitudinally on the body and 3 primers rupture as well. I pulled a few and there was quite a variation in powder weight (about 6 grains!) Bloody filthy bore after a shoot as well.

One thing to watch with '50's Yugo ammo is cases splitting at the base into the primer pocket.
It happened to me with '55 vintage ammo. The gasses blew back into my face and gas-cut a groove into the bolt face of my K98.

I had fired about 300 rounds before this happened
I have heard of other similar incidents with this vintage ammo.
Luckily, I was wearing safety glasses, otherwise my eyes would have been injured.

I have found it to be good ammo but, for your own safety, wear eye protection.
