Interesting idea. I must admit I used frog lube on my M67 but not on my Dolphin. I guess seeing as there are so many ozone friendly lubes about (tallow, beeswax, balistol etc) then a veggie version should be doable.paulbradley wrote:AW thanks Maggot! Anyhow, coconut oil.. Maggot I realise there are some chemical variables I can't control in shooting such as propellant. However when possible I will moderate risk. I was actually looking for a cheaper alternative to frog lube (which is great but pricey). Coconut oil seemed to fit the bill. I tried cleaning my bolt with it and it worked a treat so I tried it on the brass too. I will buy a tumbler ect at some point but for now the coconut will do very nicely. I urge you to try it as the results were far better than I expected. Hardened old carbon deposits just wipe straight off. It may also be of use to those that are machining metals at home.
