I remember a mate of mine threatening a drunken German trying to enter camp.

Nick points an L85 at him and yells...."Halt oder ich Sheisser"

The German (quite literally) pees himself and tells Nicko in broken English...."Nein, Nein, du meindst halt oder ich sheissen" "Halt oder ich sheisser means stop or I s***".....you had to laugh clapclap
I think you mean "schießen" (schiessen) ;)
Dont shoot the messenger...he was p*** :55:

Hi David. Having had to do a bit of impromptu translation of late tongueout, I got some pretty good results using http://www.linguee.com. It takes the novel approach of cross-matching content from existing technical documents that have already been translated into multiple languages.

For example, "teilmantel-rund-geschoss" matches "Teilmantel-Rundkopf--Geschoss oder Teilmantel-Spitzkopf-Geschoss je nach Kaliber." in German against "Softpoint roundnose projectile or softpoint pointed projectile depending on the calibre." in English. Similarly, the translation for "Torpedo-ideal-Geschoss" actually comes directly from the Brenneke munitions website.

With a bit of educated guesswork, you can get a pretty reasonable stab (and often better than Google, because it's already in the correct context).

Reminds me of a group of colleagues on a jolly in Paris, who proceeded to recount translated English jokes on the Metro to bemused Parisiens. Such gems as:

"J'ai un chien qui n'a pas un nez."

"Comment et il sent?"

"Terrible!"

Kinell ED....that where Nicko told said "Karpton Kopf" to halt or he would s***. My 436 broke down right in the middle of the dual carriageway outside camp, came down the Hak hill ok then coughed and shat itself in the middle of the road. The CHARRV crew were on strike (PRE) so we got a JCB and a slave lead and got her home that way. Have a look on google erde mate, its changed tesnews

We were 4 Regt, but my lot were on the bottom tank park with 200 Sigs (early 90s).

Drawdown was a giggle, have you any idea how far a skate board travels with one large BCF extinguisher as a rocket motor? Then some wag found a bottle of helium. If you fill a bin liner and weight it with washers it will hover for days in a hanger...and condoms...probably still there!!

Bored squaddies eh? we had no fatalities though fingerscrossed
