Not in our case (big surprise) as the original application dates back before the insurance was offered and before he joined.

We moved into this house 16 months ago and while it's a really nice area and being a bungalow is ideal for me physically I'd move into another area tomorrow just to get away from Durhams licensing department. With the monumental cock ups with Atherton and the arse covering/face saving scheme they are running requesting everyone includes a GPs report (at their own expense) with a renewal or application they are a complete disgrace.

Yup, a mate of mine served in the Balkans at the end of the 90s and ended up with PTSD after helping some kids who had been kneecapped. He recognised what was happening to him and was successfully treated. Now a civilian, he has an FAC.

I'm very fortunate that I have never been diagnosed with PTSD or anything else stress related, but, two of my friends were. One will never be the same, 20 years on.

You've just been diagnosed. You don't know how this will develop or decline. I'm going to go against the grain here and I hope you understand the reasons why. Lodge your guns with a dealer or friend, you don't need something else clouding or restricting recovery.

After reading the original post and dwelling on it for a while, I came to the same conclusion as Sim G.

Three things stand out for me.
Firstly that your consultant specifically asked you the question about holding an FAC. To me, that indicates that she may contact the Police Firearms Department and tell them about your condition. It's probably a checklist and no reflection on her.

Secondly if you lodge them with an RFD, they remain under your control. If you retain your FAC, you can still use them relatively easily. But if the Police come knocking and confiscate them, I've heard nightmare stories about how they are stored and the problems getting them back into your possession.

Thirdly I believe that it would reflect positively on you.

I have already contacted them to advise, still awaiting a call or visit.

Dromia has kindly offered to sort out my firearms so that's the good part and a weight off my mind.

Chris, I cannot offer any advice however I can echo the other comments and say I hope it works out OK, in fact with such a positive approach I am sure everything is going to be good.
