Are they asking for links to their social media accounts? If they are, what bell end would provide them?phaedra1106 wrote:As well as the usual background checks on applicants both Durham and North Wales are also doing "intelligence packs" which include looking at their social media sites amongst other things.

No need to provide anything, the FEO does a Google search and voila, there is it, all the stuff the person has submitted online.SevenSixTwo wrote:Are they asking for links to their social media accounts? If you've got a common name or the same name as someone famous they're going to have to do a loooottttt of searching!

That's not a very intelligent method of gathering intel. This poor lady lived just a few miles down the road from me, same county, same name, same nickname, same age. Would you therefore conclude that I am dead? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-st ... e-23044637
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Exactly. I'd honestly be surprised if they do actually do this. I'm fortunate to have the same (almost) name as a famous person in the US and it masks my online profile very nicely

A couple of well crafted search strings and a little bit of background knowledge will reveal one hell of a lot about the vast majority of people with an internet presence. Of course this does not mean the average FEO should be attempting such an exercise.

Room to rent within walking distance of the Durham constabulary border. I take payment in single malt and ammunition (girl friends/wives on negotiation)
