I apologise for going on about Burris, afraid I have spent the evening trying to chase something I was sure I had read but was finding it hard to find again.

Charlotte, I've been through all the same dilemmas

Look for a good secondhand Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56, well within your budget.

Bomb proof target scopes.

I have two NXS (5.5-22x56 and 8-32x56) target scopes bought secondhand. Reckon on around 60-75% of new price depending on condition.

I bought one of the Trijicon TR 23-1 5 - 20 X 50 variables a couple of years ago for my Remington 700 SPS Tactical . These are about US$1250 so that should put it within your GBP1,000 price range. Great glass - wonderful optical clarity. The only thing is that you will need a 20 MOA base to get you to 1,000 metres with a .308 Win.

I have both Nightforce & Sightron scopes.

IMHO you can't beat the Sightrons for value.

John is the UK agent, a keen shooter & all round nice chap.
